Hot and summery for much of Europe

Today
The Spanish heat wave continues with high temperatures over 40 Celsius across central and southern parts of Spain. Apart from a few showers across Portugal, expect a dry, sunny day across parts of Portugal into Spain. This fine, summery weather will extend eastwards into the Balearics, Corsica, Sardinia and into Italy. Heavy showers and thunderstorms develop across northern Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria. It remains hot, dry and sunny across France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark and across into Germany, Poland and The Baltic States. Cooler but fine across Finland. Plenty of heavy showers and thunderstorms to affect northern parts of Russia and the Baltic States. Outbreaks of rain spread into Norway with heavy showers across northern Sweden but dry in the south. Brisk east winds develop in the Straits of Gibraltar with strong north west winds developing through the Aegean Sea.



Tuesday
Another very hot day across Iberia and very warm to hot for much of Europe. Coolest weather will be across Scandinavia and the Baltic Region. It stays sunny and dry across Portugal, Spain and into southern France, The Balearics into Italy and Greece. A few thundery showers develop across central France, parts of Belgium, Germany and Austria. Fine and dry across the Netherlands and Denmark. Heavy, thundery showers are also forecast across the Alps, Poland, The Baltic States, Russia and Belarus. Unsettled with rain and showers across Finland. Mainly dry for Sweden and Norway but showers to affect western Norway. Hot and sunny across the Adriatic Region and Hungary with a few thunderstorms for Bulgaria. Lots of hot sunshine is expected across Turkey with a few heavy afternoon showers. Gusty north west winds persist through the Aegean Sea.
